When everything’s urgent, how do you choose?

Q: When everything’s urgent, how do you choose?
A: Start with the brutal truth: you can’t do it all.
We’re living through a time in history where very little feels stable.
Not just a rough season — but a shift in how the world works. Uncertainty is no longer something to wait out or plan around. It’s the environment we lead in. Every day.
And for the women I work with — leaders carrying bold missions and building what doesn’t yet exist — this isn’t abstract. It’s deeply personal. It’s the pressure to get it right. The fear of missing something important. The weight of holding it all together.
Most people respond by trying to do more. Cover all bases. Keep pushing.
But here’s what I’ve seen, again and again: that instinct leads straight to exhaustion.
So what do you do instead? You stop. You breathe. And you ask a different set of questions:
Where’s the real value — not just the noise?
What’s worth failing slowly at, and what needs to move now?
If this project dies tomorrow, what would I regret not backing?
Because when you slow it all down — really slow it down — you can start to see what’s actually here.
What are the projects, really?
What do they need from you now — not someday, but now?
And how do you stay with them without killing yourself trying to cover all the bases?
That’s when the fog starts to clear. That’s when you can finally make decisions that hold.
I once had a client bring me a list of strategic priorities — all marked “critical.” But when we slowed the conversation down, only a few were truly essential. The rest? Supporting acts. Still important. But not urgent. Naming that changed everything.
The team could focus.
And the work started to land. Phew!
This is the kind of thinking work I do with my clients. Not as someone handing out advice, but as a true partner — someone who walks with you, helps you see clearly, and doesn’t flinch when the path gets messy.
In a world that tells you to perform, prove, and push — I help you slow it down enough to choose. To lead from freedom, not fear.
Because success that costs your freedom isn’t success. It’s a trap.
And courage — real courage — begins with knowing what not to do.
Love,
Rita
