️ What if slowing down isn’t a luxury, but a power move?
Dec 17, 2024You’re racing through the final stretch of the year, aren’t you?
Wrapping things up, hitting targets, juggling plans… all while silently whispering to yourself, “Just get through this.”
But what if getting through isn’t the goal at all?
What if the most powerful move you could make right now is… to slow down?
Wait, hear me out.
Slowing down isn’t lazy. It’s smart.
Here’s what I know after 20 years in leadership and now running my own business:
When you speed up, life speeds up with you.
When you slow down? Time stretches.
Clarity appears.
Slowing down doesn’t mean checking out. It means checking in.
I see so many leaders push through the exhaustion, convinced they’ll find answers by doing more. But here’s the truth: when we refuse to pause, we shrink our capacity.
The very thing you’re avoiding—slowing down—might hold the clarity you’ve been searching for.
When I slowed down, everything changed.
I remember a time when I was caught in the rush, moving from one demand to the next without stopping to breathe.
Until my body said: Enough.
I was tired, overwhelmed, barely slept and the harder I pushed, the more life pushed back.
So, reluctantly, I slowed down. Well, I HAD to!
I took walks. I let the silence speak. I remembered what I cared about and why.
And suddenly, things I couldn’t see before became obvious.
That’s the gift of slowing down: it makes space for what’s real.
Your end-of-year invitation
Let’s flip the script. Instead of grinding to the finish line, try this:
- Release the rush:
Ask yourself, What’s one thing I can let go of today? Not everything needs to be done now.
- Make space to listen:
Take 10 minutes to pause. No phone. No to-do list. Just a moment to ask:
- What am I feeling?
- What do I need right now?
- Find joy in the small things:
Go for that walk. Sip your coffee slowly. Notice the little sparks of life that you’ve been rushing past.
Slowing down creates momentum.
It’s not about doing less. It’s about doing what matters, with presence and intention.
And here’s the twist: when you slow down, you don’t lose time—you gain it.
You gain clarity. You gain energy. You gain yourself.
So, let this season be your permission slip.
Slow down.
Trust me—everything that matters will still be there. But you’ll return to it clearer, calmer, and far more powerful.
What’s one way you can slow down this week? Hit reply and let me know—I’d love to hear.
Love,
Rita
